How Much Does Dry Ice Cost in the UK?
Dry ice prices vary more than most people expect. The price per kilo depends on how much you buy, how it is delivered and how far it has to travel. Here is what affects the cost of dry ice, and what you pay with Nice Ice in London.
Our dry ice price
| Item | Price |
|---|---|
| Dry ice, 5 kg pack | £45 |
| Minimum order (2 packs, 10 kg) | £90 |
| Notice needed | At least 2 days |
That works out at £9 per kilo. Delivery is to London addresses, Monday to Saturday. Prices are shown before you pay in our order builder.
What affects the price of dry ice
- Quantity – larger orders usually cost less per kilo.
- Delivery distance and time – dry ice loses weight during transit, so long courier journeys need extra ice and insulated packaging.
- Form – pellets, nuggets and blocks are made differently and can be priced differently.
- Packaging – insulated boxes for couriered dry ice add to the cost.
- Notice – dry ice cannot be stockpiled, so very short-notice orders can be harder to supply.
Why is there a minimum order?
Dry ice starts to turn into gas (sublimate) as soon as it is made. Small amounts disappear quickly, so very small orders often arrive too light to be useful. A 10 kg minimum gives you enough to work with once you allow for natural weight loss. Read how long dry ice lasts to plan your quantity.
Comparing prices fairly
When you compare quotes, check whether the price includes delivery, packaging and VAT, and how long before your event or shipment the ice will arrive. A cheaper price per kilo with a long courier journey can leave you with less usable dry ice.

Safety first
- Never touch dry ice with bare skin; use insulated gloves or tongs. It can cause cold burns.
- Only use and store it in well-ventilated spaces. It releases carbon dioxide gas, which can build up in small rooms, cellars and vehicles.
- Never seal it in an airtight container; the gas can build pressure and burst it.
- Never eat it, swallow it or put it in food or drinks.
- Keep it away from children and pets.
